Advantages and disadvantagesof Optical Brightener Agent KCB

Advantages:

  1. Outstanding whitening effect:

    • Pure color light: KCB presents a vivid blue and bright color      light. When this color light is mixed with the yellow light in the      substrate, an extremely ideal white light effect can be presented, making      the product appear whiter and brighter. For products that pursue high      whiteness, such as plastic products and synthetic fibers, it cansignificantly enhance their appearance whiteness and vividness. For      example, in EVA foamed shoe materials, the shoe materials whitened with      KCB have a significantly improved whiteness and good visual effect.

    • Significant brightening effect: Not only does it have a   good whitening effect on white products, but it also has a relatively      obvious brightening effect on colored plastic products, making the colors      of colored plastic products more vivid and bright, and improving the   grade and market competitiveness of products.

  2. Good temperature resistance: The melting point is     between 210 - 212°C. It can maintain good stability during the plastic     processing process and is suitable for the processing temperature range of     various plastics. For example, at the molding temperature of EVA material     (about 210°C), KCB can play a good role and meet the production     requirements of products such as EVA foamed shoe materials.

  3. Excellent stability:

    • Good migration resistance: It is not easy to      migrate in plastic products, and will not cause problems such as      yellowing and uneven whiteness in local areas of products due to      migration, ensuring the whiteness stability of products during long-term      use.

    • Good chemical stability: It does not react with      other plastic processing additives such as foaming agents and      crosslinking agents, and will not affect the production process and      product quality of plastic products.

  4. Good compatibility: It has good compatibility with polymer     materials and can be evenly dispersed in materials such as plastics and     synthetic fibers without agglomeration or precipitation, ensuring the     uniformity of the whitening effect.

  5. Low usage amount: When achieving a good whitening effect, its     usage amount is relatively small. Generally, in PE, PVC, PS, ABS, and EVA     foamed products, the dosage is about 0.01% - 0.03%. In light-converting     transparent films, the dosage is only 0.0005% - 0.002%, which can reduce     production costs.

Disadvantages:

  1. Limited application range: Although it performs     well in some plastic and synthetic fiber products, for some special     materials or high-temperature processed engineering plastics and special     plastics, its temperature resistance may not meet the requirements. When     the molding and manufacturing process temperature of plastics is very high     (even reaching above 300°C), KCB is not very suitable.

  2. Relatively high price: Compared with some ordinary fluorescent     whitening agents, the price of KCB is relatively high, which to some     extent increases the production cost of products. For some enterprises     with high requirements for cost control, they may have concerns when     choosing.
