Fluorescentwhitening agents have the property of inducing incident light to producefluorescence and shining, and can make the objects dyed by it appear white tothe naked eye. Based on this, it is also a white fluorescent dye which is acomplex organic compound.

Whiteningmechanism of fluorescent whitening agents:
The object to be whitened contains a certain colored impurity in its body. Itactively absorbs the visible light component with a wavelength of about 450nmof blue or blue-violet and appears yellow. While the fluorescent whiteningagent acts on the surface of the object and absorbs ultraviolet light with awavelength in the range of 350nm. At the same time, it emits visible light witha wavelength in the range of 450nm of blue or blue-violet to the outside. Thelight it emits just offsets the light absorbed by the object, thus forming thewhite light we see. The effect we see with the naked eye appears even whiterand more vivid. From this perspective, it is equivalent to adding whitepigment. In fact, it uses the optical effect of fluorescent whitening agents.Compared with other chemical bleaching methods, it does not damage the dyedobject itself, but the whiteness of the whitening agent molecules will decayunder long-term sunlight.

Accordingto different objects to be whitened, the addition amount of fluorescentwhitening agents for different objects will also be different. For objects thatare already colored, it is appropriate to add in the range of 0.01% to 0.15%.For objects that are originally transparent, the addition amount is in therange of 0.0001% to 0.001%. In the use process, add according to the principleof gradually increasing from a small amount to make our whitening agent playits maximum whitening role. In use, it is necessary to select a suitablewhitening agent according to the actual case of the object to be whitened, andnot blindly pursue an excessively high whiteness value.

Thewhitening agent OB-1 of Tonex Chemical is a yellow-green powder with a meltingpoint of 358 to 360. It hasvery little solubility in most organic solvents and has good thermal stabilityand can withstand a high temperature of 375. Therefore,it is suitable for engineering plastics with high melting points, such aspolysulfone resin.

Scope of application: OB1 ismainly used for whitening polyester resin stock solutions and polyester fibers. It is also used for whitening nylon, ABS, EVA, rigid PVC (use with caution insoft PVC), polycarbonate, etc. Because of its extremely low toxicity, it can beused for whitening food-grade packaging plastic products under strict control.

CAS No.: 1533-45-5

Application industry: plasticindustry

Product characteristics
Due to its high melting point and strong stability, it has good heatresistance; because of its hydrophobicity, it has good light resistance; due toits strong fluorescence, it not only increases the whiteness but also thebrightness of the product. In chemical fibers, it can be used like dispersedyes, and in plastics, it can be used like oil-soluble colorants.

Application fields
Suitable for whitening chemical fibers such as polyester fiber, nylon fiber, and polypropylene fiber; suitable for whitening and brightening ofpolypropylene plastics, rigid PVC, ABS, EVA, polystyrene, polycarbonate, etc.;suitable for adding in the conventional polymerization of polyester and nylon;especially suitable for whitening of plastic products formed at hightemperatures.
