Optical Brightener SWN(optical brightener MDAC)C.I. 140, CAS no.: 91-44-1
The Application Methods ofFluorescent Brightener SWN

The application methods offluorescent brightener SWN are as follows:
Application in Plastics:
Dosage: The dosage of SWN in plastics is generally 0.01% - 0.06%.
Adding Methods:
Dry Whitening: Add a certain amount of dry powder of fluorescent brightener SWN directly to the plastic substrate before molding. First, mix it with the plastic substrate. When the extruder reaches the melting temperature of the plastic, extrude the mixtur the screw for melting, so that the fluorescent brightener is evenly distributed in the melt. Finally, pelletize or press it into shape. This method is usually used for injection molding whitening of rigid PVC, PE, PP, ABS and other thermoplastic resins.
Wet Whitening: To improve the dispersion effect, a certain amount of binder, such as butyl stearate, can be added to the fluorescent brightener to make it adhere well to the surface of the material, reducing dust flying and pollution. It is also possible to disperse the fluorescent brightener in the solution of additives and add it in batches in the form of additive dispersion. For example, when used in soft PVC, it can be first prepared into a 10% dioctyl phthalate plasticizer solution and then added in batches.
Whitening by Masterbatch Method: Pre-mix the fluorescent brightener SWN with the required resin plastic and directly melt and extrude it to form a masterbatch product with a relatively high concentration of fluorescent brightener. When in use, as long as the masterbatch and the resin are evenly mixed in proportion, they can be directly used for the molding processing of plastic products.
Application in Wool, Natural Silk and Acrylic Fibers:
Dosage: The dosage for wool is 0.05% - 0.35%; for natural silk is 0.05% - 0.4%; and for acrylic fibers is 0.05% - 0.8%.
Application State: It is generally used in liquid state. The commercial products are usually applied in the form of solutions prepared by salifying them with sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, or mixing them with organic acids (such as tartaric acid, citric acid, oxalic acid), or adding solubilizing substances to improve solubility and dispersants.
Application in Laundry Detergents or Washing Powders:
Dosage: The dosage in laundry detergents or washing powders is 0.001% -0.005%. It can be evenly sprayed in the form of solutions or soft water suspensions, or directly added to the detergent mixture in the form of granules.
When using fluorescentbrightener SWN, ensure the safety of the operating environment and avoid directcontact with the skin and inhalation of dust. Meanwhile, the specificapplication methods and dosages may vary due to factors such as applicationscenarios and production processes. It is recommended to conduct a small sampletest before use to achieve the best whitening effect.
